About 15 years ago the very large Edwardian Meeting House was far too big for the Quaker Community. In a major £1 million rebuilding plan the back part of the Meeting House was converted into nine flats for young people, managed by the YMCA. This took ten years to complete.
The Quakers now have the front of the building and YMCA the back. This remarkable project has become a blueprint for further national Quaker redevelopments.
